More Forms Now Available Online
USCIS has expanded its online filing capabilities in 2026, adding several high-volume forms to its myUSCIS portal. The expansion includes standalone Form I-765 (Employment Authorization) filings for categories that previously required paper submission, Form I-539 (Application to Extend/Change Nonimmigrant Status) including B-2 extensions and change of status requests, Form I-131 (Advance Parole) standalone filings, and Form I-90 (Green Card Renewal) with enhanced upload capabilities.
Benefits of Online Filing
USCIS reports that online-filed cases are processed approximately 20-30% faster than paper submissions. Online filers receive instant receipt notices, can track case status in real-time, upload supporting documents electronically, receive secure messages from USCIS, and pay filing fees electronically with immediate confirmation. The agency is encouraging all applicants to file online where available, noting that paper backlogs continue to grow at lockbox facilities.
How to File Online
Create a USCIS online account at my.uscis.gov. Navigate to "File a Form Online" and select your form type. Complete the form, upload supporting documents, pay the fee, and submit. You will receive an instant receipt number. USCIS recommends using the online system for all available form types to take advantage of faster processing.
